A new year, and two more events for the choir. The first is on Sunday 4 February: Choral Evensong at St Peter’s, High Cross at 5pm. The second is a Come and Sing of Choral Classics on Saturday 3 March, also at St Peter’s, High Cross. The rehearsal will run from 2.30pm with a performance at 6.30pm. There will be a break for tea and cake before the performance. Music will include some of the great choruses from Handel’s Messiah, including the Hallelujah Chorus, as well as the composer’s Zadok the Priest, Parry’s I was Glad and David Fanshawe’s rousing Lord’s Prayer from African Sanctus. Cost on the day is £10 for singers – all welcome – and £5 for audience tickets. Music will be provided, but if you have a copy of the Novello edition of Messiah it would be helpful to bring it along. Dress for the day and performance is smart/casual (black concert dress is not required). See you there, and do encourage your friends to come along and join us for a day of rousing singing.
