It was wonderful to finally be singing in High Cross again after so long, in front of a very appreciative and socially-distanced audience. Our programme included Palestrina’s Sicut Cervus, Rheinberger’s Abendlied, Faure’s haunting Cantique de Jean Racine and the beautiful Geistliches Lied with its wonderful amen by Brahms. A couple of secular pieces by Stanford, Bridge and Dowland, and excerpts from Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man completed the evening, and we look forward to performing a more normal quantity of concerts in 2022 to celebrate our 50th anniversary year.
